The JD fine cut chopper is similar to the the old style Redekop, but it's not a Redekop. I was at their plant a month ago talking to one of the engineers. Personaly I'd go with the Redekop MAV.

That's not good. What's wrong with itIJ They look like a decent enough machine. We bought a JD 4890 this past spring and were quite happy with it.

Volvo is really big in Europe, and maybe some in Africa, but I don't think much elsewhere. They are selling some of their wheeled excavator style backhoes in the U.S. again after Case dropped them. But, you really don't see any of their dozers or loaders over here. On the other hand Komatsu is gunning everywhere, and their quality has com waaaayyyyy up, from when they first came over. Chads

Hey people, the difference here is obvious...Deere is the BUYER, all these other companies are the BOUGHT. End of story. Cry all you want, but it's SOlID. STABlE. STIll JOHN DEERE. (Not Fiat, AGCO, Dueutz, Massey, Tenneco, etc...)

I do not like to give advise, some people here may have a little to much lUV for their equipment color... may need to get out an experience life a little. good luck

Your right. When you buy a JD, it`s one machine not half of something and half of something else.

Mondo, I thought that redekop still built the choppers for deere. Sorry, my mistake. I'm a big fan of the redekop, too.
