Mondo, Yeah I knew that lindeman bought JD powertrains and put his own tracks under them, but the book I have said that JD bought him out after a period of time. It could be wrong. As for Wagner, kilbury and Macdon, they were 3 companies that I said worked with JD, not bought by JD. You can read this about versatile. sunnybrook has nothing to do with agco, other than you can buy sunnybrook components for gleaners. Deere, along with a couple other companies(forget which),has marketing agreements with sunnybrook. By this i mean that if you want a new sunnybrook piece for your deere combine, you can only buy it from JD.

We bought a new HW 320 in '03 and found the Macdon's at the time, to be priced at a premium to the HW. If they had been comparably priced we would have gone with the Macdon, we should have anyways, the HW has been terrible.

Hello John, I'm not disputing that AGCO has good product; - it's just that they've "accumulated" almost all of thier technology, and have yet to have really dfeveloped anything new. Fendt tractors, hesston balers and Massey rotary combines_tractors were All excellent products before AGCO acquired them, and have changed little since thier acquisition. I will say, however, that I believe AGCO is (finally) starting to refine the Massey rotary combines a little.

From what my AGCO dealer told me, the AGCOSTAR's demise originated when the Coldwater, Ohio plant closed; - AGCO no longer had a tractor plant in North America. He mentioned that the large 4WD market will be addressed since AGCO acquired the CAT tracked-tractor plant, and he predicts AGCO will be offering something in the near future. As far as the C62_8680 conventional combines are concerned, you can still buy them, but they're NOT a well-designed combine. Great in small grains but a "train-wreck" to setup in corn or beans. I had many "nickel and dime" problems with mine.

I never saw that pic. Maybe CAT contemplated the "rubber-tire Tractor" market when they lost the "tracked-Tractor" lawsuit against Deere, who knowsIJ I did, however, see a primative prototype of a 4955 Deere with tracks. I think it was either at FarmPhoto.com or geocities.com_agmachinery.

I think you're confusing Sunnybrook with Sunflower. Sunflower is owned by AGCO!

My Massey dealer tells me that the Agcostar will be reintroduced in the next year or 2 with the Fendt Vario transmission. A few exist now and are going through testing. If land leveling crews will be open minded, it will be a big thing. I live in an area where lots of precision leveling and zero grading is done each year.

I hope they re-introduce the AGCOSTAR; - my friend has a Massey 4840 (similar to an AGCOSTAR) and I thought it was a pretty fair unit. Did your Massey dealer tell you where they were going to build the new AGCOSTARIJ I heard they were going to harness a CAT powertrain (from a tracked tractor) to the articulate frame of the AGCOSTAR, but that's "hear-say"!
