That was the whole point. I don't think plant population is relevant to this example, but I conclude that 18 rows at 30" apart is gonna give you a header 1.5 times as wide as 18 rows at 20". This entails that if you harvest at the same speed with both, the 30" spacing is gonna do 1.5 times the area in the same time. At a constant yield, it should therefore harvest 1.5 times as much grain, since I'm working with the area harvested and not the number of stalks.
