Combines WAKE UP CASE

Well if kinze would have tested those carts for a few years they would have known problems but thats not as big of deal as a combine. I Believe that they should test them for several years in hills and the worst conditions possible and not be in such a hurry to get a machine that has problems all the time and lose many customers. And that is CASE'S FAUlT if they dont listen to operators just like most manufacturers dont.

Well, time to wade into this discussion. I think the point that has been common here is that the manufacturers are sending the the machines out too early. Once again, this hits a sore point in my mind. WHY DO THE STOCKHOlDERS MEAN MORE TO THESE COMPANIES THAN THE CUSTOMERIJIJIJ Time and time again, the major companies work more for the stockholder than the customer. That was the down fall of Case Corp, before the New Holland buyout. Now CNH is guilty of the same thing. Deere and Agco are no better. Having the best and most productive design is not as easy as it was many years ago. These major corporations have squeezed RandD budgets, considered as non essential overhead, to the point that they are unable to properly test the machines in all the conditions before letting it go to the public to be the first on the block. Small modifications and some performance upgrades do not require that much testing, but most require a lot more testing than is being allowed. Just think if the 8010 was say a Chevy pickup. Do you think that GM would have not issued a recall on some of the problemsIJ I think not. We should be glad that these things are not going down the highway at 70mph. That might be really scary.

So, you wanna compare a 4000 hr tractor to Deere's latest and greatest, typical. As for the hard shifting, that can be solved with a software download. First I've ever heard of taking of the 3 pt. I guess I'll have to ask all the owners around here how they get by. Chads

You can test all you want, but will never be able to duplicate conditions in the hands of the customers.

I will second your vote dakota, CNH has and is slipping. I know of two STX now that have had their steering fail. Even had to replace a windshield in one. lucky no traffic when roading or could have been alot worse. As for their hydraulic feathering their back in the dinosaur ages with WHITE or 55 series OlIVER, MM. So simple but so hard for engineers to comrehend, it just amazes me. Just why do they seem to put great stuff out without refining the little details. I guess their simplicity has held many loyal to them, but I am one of the many thinking hard about a color change next time. Why have they put a pulse width modulated steering valve on their accu-steer and can not make or write software to lock the make up valve consistantly in the same spot everytime. Why do they not update all their old steering cylinder on the STX's, just leave a serial n split, same thing for their 2200 series corn heads, serial number splits for feeding issues with them. In the old days they would have updated for free. I also agree that CNH needs to WAKE UP.

I agree 100% shellman. Most of the testing done nowdays on just about anything is done on a computer. Even so, testing is only good for so much. Some of the problems with the 8010 stem all the way back to basic design limitations. You can only push things so far.

To me it's really sad, the way things are going with CNH and the other competition. JD makes good stuff but not that superior. Part of their success is due to the competition sleeping. We have tried hard to run other colors but now I am not even looking at anything other than green for our operation, except for blue grain carts and red Peterbilts. Again it's sad. Early this summer I met an AFX 7010 in a truck stop. The truck driver told me, it came from testing in Arizona and going back to PA for the engineers to look into. Several red custom cutters told me they don't buy the AFX rotor, because it doesn't do them any good. Because of them Case still offers the specialty rotor in new 2388s. The way things are going, chances are that the 7010 will be a 2388 with the new side panels on, because they can't get the 7010 to work. I think it would be great for everybody to keep the 2388 around that way.

If the hours bother you: This fall we bought two 8400s with 5000 hours on. Same difference, exactly.

2003 MX 255 new 5_15_03 - auto climate control not working since 8_2003 A_C fails and won't work until it decides to (it may be fixed now, haven't run much since last attempt) - suspended axle quit twice 6 weeks to figure out new wiring harness was wired wrong second time - low power this thing is a dog compared to my '99 Genesis 8770 which is supposed to be 50 hp smaller. - fuel hog you need an oil well to fuel this thing - shifting sometimes will not shift into 17 or 18 2002 lBX 431 - misties quite frequently on different knotters has from the get go no matter what crop repeated promises for remedy but the few attempts made by company have failed. - flywheel shearbolt too small fatigues easily and takes work to replace.
