Combines WAKE UP CASE

"Several red custom cutters told me they don't buy the AFX rotor, because it doesn't do them any good." I've got to wonder about statements like that. I haven't talked to anybody who either installed and AFX rotor, or bought a combine with one, that didn't think it helped capacity, and definately promoted better feeding. I wonder how much attention some guys pay. Or maybe it's just the crops they're harvesting. Chads

I've got no problem with hours. We run a 7130 with 6500 hrs, a 5488 w_ g_d knows how many, and a 5140 with 7000. A 966 with 10,000 and a 1466 with 4000. The problem comes when guys want to compare a relatively experienced tractor with the competitions latest and greatest. Sure, a 9650 is way ahead of a 1460, so what. Chads

The wheat cutters dont want any thing to do with the AFX Holland Harvesting tryed them for at least 3 years now in 1 machine and still orders them with out and I think Johnson Harvesting dose not use them either in my apinion they plug a lot faster we run one of each and there is no benifits with the afx besides they are quieter but you can not here machine pull down you have to run it with the tach.

Just a tad bit of difference in your comparison and dakota's, 9650 vs. 1460, where did that come fromIJ

I dont own an 8010 but Ive seen them, they look horrible, looks like the worlds largest vacuum cleaner. I hope I never have to have one to run a successful operation, but I can say with 99% certainty, I will never go green. If you lose 2 kernels of corn per square foot that equals 1 bushel an acre. After walking through deere harvested fields it looks as if next years crop could be all volunteer. Plus they spread chaff horribly.

I'm one wheat cutter that loves the AFX rotor. I had two of them this year and we got along fine with them. You can push them till you run out of power and they will do an excellent job feeding and threshing. I agree you have to pay a little more attention to your tach and monitors till you get used to them because you sure can't here the rotors at all. Corn was the same way. Where I was a little dissapointed was in soybeans. It seemed like we just ran out of power too soon, but then we were cutting 70 to 80 bu irr. beans with stems as green as a gord.

Thanks larry. It's my understanding that fuel consumption problems are directly related to emmisions controls. My solution, thus far, has been to stay with older tractors. I hate to think of spending a bunch of money on a tractor to have it use MORE fuel. I don't think this is entirely brand related. And yeah, Case seems to have their share of wiring problems. Talk to somebody from NH on your baler. They ought to know more about it. Chads

These are the two cutters where I know, that they don't use the AFX. I could ask some more, too.

No where in particular. I just hear similar things all the time. like "Man, I just traded of my 10,000 hr 1086 on a new JD, and boy is it nice." Me, "Well, did you drive a MX or a Magnum." Them, "Nope, I wanted a nice tractor this time." Or some other such nonesense thing. Maybe the 1460 was somewhat of a stretch, but not much. I know a couple guys that had 1680's that just had to have the new Deere rotaries. 0 percent financing sold a ton of stuff for Deere. However, I could make my combine payment with the stuff coming out the back. Chads
