    Planting fall flowers

Mums have been good sellers for me. Hopefully it will be a good crop for you too. I've sold a lot of the bronze and lavender ones this year. They've been in demand for some reason.

    Exercise plan help

I've been on the keto diet and I've lost quite a bit of weight, but I haven't found an exercise plan that I can stick with. What do you guys do for extra exercise? I do a lot of office work and I need to move around more.

    Rosemary Christmas Trees

@leon, you can grow them any time if you have a greenhouse or you live in zone 7-10 allegedly. I say zone 8-10 though. Rosemary doesn't tolerate a lot of frost. @Urbanhomestead, it's unlikely to survive because you dug it up. Unfortunately, the plant doesn't take well to being dug up once...

    Hugelkultur gardening

Are you supposed to let it rot for a year or two first or do you plant right on top of that? It takes a while for wood to break down, so I'm not sure that would work because the roots wouldn't have anything to grow into and to anchor them. Maybe it works perfectly though.

    Mixing spices

I mix turmeric, fennel seeds, star anise, and Sichuan peppers together for a great stir-fry blend. I mix a tiny amount of garlic powder with dried minced onions, poppy seeds, and sea salt for a blend that enhances the flavor of eggs.

    People you know with coronavirus?

Despite living in California, until today I didn't know anyone who had been infected with the coronavirus. That sort of made the threat feel less real. Well today I found out that my neighbor has it and had to be hospitalized. I also learned that my brother has it, but his seems to be a mild...

Raising prices since that's the perception

Even though many businesses utilize a pricing cycle, there seems to be a broad assumption that prices have gone up across the board due to the coronavirus pandemic. I have had customers bring it up and I've been unsuccessful at stopping that perception, so I finally just raised my prices. Have...

    Rosemary Christmas Trees

I grow these and am happy to help. Just so your expectations are realistic, I want to warn you that they take ages to grow and few varieties will reach the 4 to 6-feet that you're probably looking for. However, you can shape any non-trailing rosemary plant into a traditional Christmas tree...

    Utilizing limited space

Oh, fun topic! Floriculture is my specialty, but if I was looking for something new and had a 1-acre farm I would probably start a U-pick operation. I'd start with blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries because they mature and begin setting fruit quickly. I might add blueberries, if the...

Halloween - you in or out?

Are you all celebrating Halloween this year? Is your family or business going to hand out candy? There is an uptick in COVID-19 cases in my area, so I'm planning to shut the gates and not participate. I'm not worried about catching it, but my elderly parents are also on the property, so I'm...

How much dose a tractor operator make?

The minimum wage in Florida is a little over $8 and you're not making much more than that, so yeah I'd say you're underpaid. Is everyone being paid a low amount? Some companies are notorious for underpaying. Are you fairly new to the job?

    Beef stew

My husband won't eat carrots, so I put potatoes, peas, and tomatoes in my stew. I don't think that cooked carrots have much of a taste, but my husband objects to their texture for some reason. I guess we all have our preferences when it comes to food, so I work with it.

    Spam for dinner

I'm sorry that it's happening to you! This is such a great place to get information and support. It's a shame that you have to deal with spam.

    Packaging seeds

What type of machinery do you guys use to package seeds? For the past five years or so we've done it by hand using an assembly line of people. As time has worn on I've been getting more orders for seeds so this is no longer a sustainable method for sending them out. Any tips for what to buy...

    The Coolest Coop Ever

^Isn't it clever? This coop is incredibly elegant, but I don't think that's enough room to roam. Hopefully they free-range some too. Well, maybe it is enough room and I just give my girls extra, extra room in their run.

    Craft for Older Kids

This looks much nicer than the old friendship bracelets we used to make as kids. I always have tons of beads lying around - just me? It's fun for kids, but it's also a good craft to help protect chickens and rabbits from hawks if you use beads that have a glare to them. When the sun hits the...

    Farming = Hope

Don't you wish you could dial into the Midwest, where their farms are being flooded? I've had that thought while my state (California) has been burning to the ground. What I wouldn't give for a giant fire hose connected to their flooded fields and what they wouldn't give to see us drain their...

    Weekends

I don't take as many days to rest as my parents and grandparents did. I never really gave that much thought until now. I need to try incorporating some lazy Sundays in our schedule so my kids can feel like they get a true break. It sounds like you have fond memories of those days, @Urban...

    Tips for making popsicles

You probably aren't using enough sugar. It takes a ton of sugar to get a texture that's similar to the kind you buy in the store. I usually rotate my popsicles once they're half frozen just to make sure there's even distribution. Even then it's mostly all about luck. I don't think they're...

    The Coolest Coop Ever

Check out this awesome chicken coop that looks like an alien's spaceship. That took some creativity! Kudos to the maker. It kinda makes me feel sorry for my chickens. If you've seen any imaginative coops feel free to post them and we'll all gawk together.
